B. Introduction
The Ph.D. Veterinary Microbiology programme is designed for candidates who want to take up academic and/or research activities in Veterinary Microbiology. It is a purely research-based programme at the end of which candidates become experts in their chosen field.
C. Philosophy
The philosophy of the programme is to provide excellent teaching and skilled manpower for veterinarians and biomedical scientists and also provide high quality clinical services for diagnosis of microbiological diseases. The program is to upgrade the research skills of professionals in the area of Veterinary Microbiology towards improving their competence in handling contemporary challenges.

VMB 918 Problems in Veterinary Microbiology 2 Credits
A project design by a graduate student aimed at addressing a particular problem in the study of microbiology. 90h (P); C
VMB 920 Seminar I 1 Credit
Seminar/presentation of research proposal by candidate at the faculty. To be assessed and graded by a panel of examiners during oral presentation. 45h (P); C
VMB 921 Seminar II 1 Credit
Progress/research finding seminar to be presented by the candidate and assessed and graded by a panel of examiners. 45h (P); C
VMB 922 Seminar III 1 Credit
Progress/research finding seminar to be presented by the candidate and assessed and graded by a panel of examiners. 45h (P); C
VMB 999 Thesis 24 Credits
Production of thesis on the original investigation under the supervision of supervisors. 1080h (P); C
Candidate shall be required to have taken and pass all core courses with a minimum score of 50%. A minimum of 29 credits is required for graduation, including a research thesis. However, candidates found deficient in some courses required for their research work and general knowledge would have courses prescribed for him/her from M.Sc. Veterinary Microbiology programme by the supervisory team.
