B. Introduction
The programme is designed to extend and expand graduate students‘ general appreciation of the significance of language in human life, through research. This is to enhance not only their oral and written competence and performance but also their analytical skills in the literary explorations.

The philosophy of the programme is to make tangible contributions to Arabic Language and literature, be consciousness of most advanced studies on the subject and being in the vanguard of reference in international study of the subject.

Practical translation and analysis from English, Hausa or Yoruba to Arabic of technical and scientific texts relating to various disciplines: science, engineering, medicine. economics, technology, sports etc. Duties and qualifications of a good translator or interpreter. To be eligible for the award of the Ph.D. Degree in Arabic Language, a student must have taken the core courses and elective course and passed at least 27 Credits including the thesis as stated below:
