B. Introduction
Experts in Human Kinetics Education for Special needs are needed to plan and implement programmes that will motivate the Nigerian populace or people with disabilities in sports pursuits and enable to best global Special needs Human Kinetics Education and Sports challenges. There is the need to build a workforce of Ph.D. graduates, who would have a comprehensive knowledge of the area of specialization, embodying and understanding of the theoretical as well as the practical application foundations by demonstration of problem-solving capacity through critical innovation and creative thinking to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
C. Philosophy
The philosophy of the programme is to develop professional Human Kinetics Experts for special needs Sports and Physical education programmes who will advance researches and practices that impart on sports performance, Administration and Coaching, regardless of physical, physiological, psychological or biomechanical disabilities.
D. Aim and Objectives
The aim of the programme aims at producing graduates of Adapted Human Kinetics Education who will be adequately equipped with relevant knowledge, research competence, professional skills and attitudes to effectively function and practice as high level manpower in diverse areas of Sport and Human Kinetics Administration.

E. Admission Requirements
Candidates for the Ph.D. degree in Adapted Physical Education must posses the following:
‗O‘ Level Credits or equivalent in five subjects including English Lanaguage and Mathematics.
All candidates must have a Master degree in any relevant area of specialisation in Human Kinetics Programmes with a minimum CGPA of 4.0 or 60%.
In all cases, candidates may be expected to undergo a selection process involving qualifying examination and/or interviews.
Evidence that meet the matriculation requirements of the University of Choice.
Holder of related area without Education background must possess a Post-graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) before consideration for Admission.
F. Duration of the Programme
The Full-time programme shall run for a minimum of 36 calendar months and a maximum of 60 calendar months.
The Part-time programme shall run for a minimum of 48 calendar months and a maximum of 72 calendar months.
For extension beyond the maximum period, a special permission of the university shall be required.

RME 901 Advanced Research Methods II 3 Credits
Concept and nature of research. Scientific process in Research. Sources of research topics. Theory. Construction and hypotheses formulation. Techniques for literature review. Principles of design. Concept of educational statistics. Inferential statistics. Population and sampling theory. Non-parametric statistics and hypotheses assumption: types, application and limitation. Nature of parametric statistics. Types and application education. Statistical models in education. Application and limitation: correlation, univariate and multivariate analyses of educational data. HKE 999 Thesis 10 Credits
Candidates are required to demonstrate research competences by selecting a thesis topic in their relevance area of specialisation under the guidance of a competent supervisor according to graduate school requirement. To qualify for the award of Ph.D. programmes in Human Kinetics, a candidate must have fulfilled the following conditions:
