B. Introduction
The programme is designed to provide training for those interested in the academic profession, serving officers in government, industry and commerce. It equally enhances candidates‘ skill in basic and applied research in Accounting that prepares them for further training in Accounting, Finance and other related Management fields.

The philosophy of the programme is designed for the development of highly skilled and globally competitive manpower for the Nigeria private and public sectors, and the world at large; it is also towards the development of human resources suitable for teaching and conducting research in higher institutions of learning within and outside Nigeria.

Review of basic accounting procedures. Elements of the history of accounting. Interpretations of financial statements. Generally accepted accounting principles: net income concepts, valuation of stock, work-in-progress. ACC 899 Dissertation 6 Credits
Each student under the guidance of a supervisor approved by the department is required to conduct, present, and submit the research report to the department. Report shall be duly assessed by a panel of 4 examiners and an external examiner. 270h (P); C
Graduation Requirements
Candidates must have taken and passed 30 Credits of Core and 6 Credits of Elective courses with a score of not less than 50%. Candidates must also have presented and defended one seminar paper to the satisfaction of a panel of internal examiners. The final dissertation must have been assessed and found satisfactory for the award of M. Sc. degree by a panel of four (4) including an external examiner.
