B. Introduction
Modern challenges in physical exercise and health problems have called attention to the provision of qualified postgraduate and competent personnel in the area of Recreation and Tourism Education. Thus, giving rise to the achievable programme delivery system, facilities and equipment maintenance culture, proper budgeting and financing culture, hospitality and general administrative. The service process encompasses activities, facilities efficiency and personnel, with participant interest and satisfaction foremost in mind. Academic and professional backings at the postgraduate level are the ingredients to proffer possible solutions to the aforementioned challenges.
C. Philosophy
The philosophy of the programme is the development of recreation and tourism educators/experts who will advance researches and practices that impart on sports performance, recreation, leisure and tourism, human health and wellness across lifespan through motivating the people through Tourism industries to inculcate healthy life practices.
D. Aim and Objectives
The aim of the programme acts as a conversion course taking students at entry from a variety of backgrounds and giving them new skills to enable them to move into research and employment in a number of disciplines.

H. Graduation Requirements
To qualify or proceed to Ph.D. programme, the candidate must have presented a Research Protocol within a minimum of four months after resumption into the course of study. Such candidate may proceed to Ph.D. programme after he must have scored 60% and a seminar paper presented. A candidate must take a minimum of 24 Credits courses to make-up for his/her academic shortfall. Such courses are examined to develop research skills, as assignments, term papers, seminar presentations or mini research. Independent study – a one to one supervised programme of work leading to the development of the research protocol for the Research Thesis.
