B. Introduction
The programme is basically a research oriented programme. It is intended to cater for candidate with M.Sc. Industrial Chemistry degree who have the ambition to pursue an academic career to Ph.D. level but were not able to make a Ph.D. grade after the M.Sc. programme.
C. Philosophy
The philosophy of the programme is hinged on developing research personnel who have ability to apply advanced techniques in Industrial Chemistry to solving theoretical and practical problems.
D. Aim and Objectives
The aim of the programme is to train researchers who are able to carry out cutting edge researches in Industrial Chemistry.
Objectives:
E. Admission Requirements
Candidates seeking admission to the M.Phil./Ph.D. Programme in Industrial Chemistry are required to have the following:
F. Duration of the Programme
months. Students who are unable to convert to Ph.D. can terminate at the M.Phil. level.
G. Detailed Course Description
ICH 899 Dissertation 6 Credits
Candidates will be required to carry out original research in Industrial Chemistry and submit a dissertation on a topic chosen in consultation with their supervisor and approved by the department. 270h; (P); C
H. Graduation Requirements
Candidates could be converted to a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme provided that they score a minimum of 60 % in the conversion examination after 12 months studentship and research. A candidate that scores less than 60 % will conclude the programme and will be awarded the M.Phil. degree. The degree shall be awarded on the basis of successful defence of a dissertation resulting from original, independent research carried out by the student.
