B.                 Introduction

The programme is a research-focused programme which is designed for individuals with a cumulative average score of between 55.00 and 59.99 % in their Master of Science Programme. It is structured to include self-audited courses, seminar presentations and submission of a dissertation over a period of twelve months.

C.                Philosophy

The philosophy of the programme is to provide remedial training for progressing to a higher level of study, the Ph.D. Programme.

D.                  Aim and Objectives

The aim of the programme is to develop a middle level manpower and create a philosophical foundation for candidate aspiring to pursue Ph.D. degree in Business Administration.

Objectives:

  1. developing the candidates‘ advanced skills in critical thinking and analysis to enable them assume broader and higher academic responsibilities in a rapidly competitive academic global environment;
  2. promoting research efforts directed towards meeting the socio-economic as well as cultural needs of the society;
  3. exploring new frontiers of knowledge through scholarly research and innovative endeavours in the respective areas of specialisation directed at the immediate and long time needs of the society; and
  4. providing critical manpower needs in the area of management for national development.

E.                 Admission Requirements

Candidates are required to possess the following:

  1. Five ―O‖ Level Credits passes or its equivalent subjects including English, Mathematics, Economics and two other Social Science subjects.
  2. Graduate with a Second Class (Honours) Lower Division or its equivalent from the University of Ilorin or any other recognised university.
  3. M.Sc. degree in Business Administration or Management from the University of Ilorin or any other recognised University with at an average grade of between 55 to 59%.M.Phil. degree/MPhil conversion (having satisfied all requirements) in Business Administration or Management from the University of Ilorin or any other recognised universities
  4. All prospective candidates must sit for qualifying examination/interviews organised by the department and score a minimum of sixty  percent (60%).

F.                   Duration of the Programme

The Full-time programme shall run for a minimum 12 calendar months and a maximum of 24 calendar months.

Candidates are expected to submit a dissertation and defend it in an open oral examination by a body of experts in the relevant chosen area of specialisation. 450h (P); C

Graduation Requirements

Students are required to present a research protocol and one seminar presentation. The panel is made up of the Head of Department as the Chairman, Postgraduate Coordinator, Examiner from related department and the representative of Postgraduate School.
